Dodona: The Oracle of Sounds at the Acropolis Museum   Northwestern Greece… in the heart of Epirus…. the ancient ruins of Dodona stand here, surrounded by mountains of breathtaking beauty; it is here where the oldest oracle of the ancient world was according to Homer.    The historian Herodotus referred to Dodona as dating back to the second millennium BCE. Legend says that two black pigeons were released from Thebes in Egypt; the first landed in Libya where the oracle of Ammon Zeus was established.
