Once Upon a Long Long Time Ago…Dinosauria Park, Crete

You’ve read the books, seen the movies, now it’s time to walk amongst these great creatures, and where better to see them than on the great island Crete!

Dinosauria Park in Heraklion, Crete is located just minutes outside the city and a must-see location when traveling with youngsters. Children of all ages can wander out about the outdoor park, explore the caves, and experience these masterful beasts in as they would have been out in nature.

The Museum also offers an exciting 5D and 7D cinema experience (at additional charge) and rare bones and fossil collection on display.

Dinosauria Park was founded in 2013, first located on the American Base in Gournes. The following year, it moved its operation, expanding greatly, even adding a “Dinosaur General Hospital”!  It’s here in the hospital visitors can see a dinosaur “hatch” and start its life adventure.

After a tour of the Park, children can take a bit of time in the playground while parents relax at the nearby Dino Restaurant.

Be sure to visit the museum’s website which offers games and apps for children as well.  Both the site and museum have a plethora of information on the Mesozoikos (250-65 million years ago), Triassic (250-203 million years ago), Jurassic (203-144 million years ago) and Cretaceous (144-64 millions years ago) Periods. You can enjoy the adventure log after you have visited the Park!
