Made in Greece Festival

The “Made in Greece” festival was held for the first time in Athens this past October 23-26, 2015 at Technopolis.  Produced by 2 FOR 7, the event was an effort to showcase goods “made in Greece” as well as provide an opportunity for festival goers to meet the artisans and crafters of these products.

As a result of the economic crisis in recent years, domestic producers of foods, crafts and other goods have faced great challenge.  Many local or family run businesses simply could not keep up with the rising costs of goods, promotion and taxes involved.  However, “Made in Greece” gave a glimpse into an industry that now seems to be taking a turn for the better, even growing.  Part of this is due to a growing sentiment to “buy domestic, buy Greek” in an effort to support the country and stimulate the economy.

There is a blossoming market – and potentially bright future – for the state of Greek made products. And with the high quality of goods being created, there is now growing interest and demand for many of these Greek items outside of the country.

This year’s “Made in Greece” festival offered vendors a platform to encourage and educate consumers on why to buy “Greek.” The event promoted opportunities to speak with consumers, network with colleagues and promote the high quality of products and services available in Greece.  Festival activities also included cultural presentations, cooking demonstrations, and opportunities for expert consultations on health and beauty.

Overall, the atmosphere of the event was charged with excitement and positive energy and due to the overwhelming response, 2 FOR 7 is now making plans for the 2016 festival.  To learn more about “Made in Greece” visit: www.madeingreecefestival.gr
